Program Description:
A program that prepares individuals to administer prescribed medications; observe and report patient reactions and side effects; and perform related emergency and recording duties under the supervision of nurses and/or physicians, includes instruction in basic anatomy and physiology, common medications and their effects, taking vital signs, oxygen administration, medication administration and application, record-keeping, and patient observation.
Program Description:
Upon completing the Medication Aide Program, students will be able to:

- Describe interpersonal skills essential for the success of the CMA
- Identify various dosage preparations
- Describe the routes of medication administration
- Describe mechanisms for proper storage and maintaining security of medications.
- Identify ways to avoid the spread of infections describe how to dispose of a medication
- Identify the 6 Rights of Medication Administration
- Describe a solution to a problem with administering a medication
- Discuss the value of proper positioning of resident for various medication
- Discuss and demonstrate the use of good body mechanics on the part of the CMA
